Rainald Knightley commissioned the building of the Victorian Wing in 1869 to celebrate his forthcoming marriage to Louisa Mary Bowater. The result is the charming Salvin Suite, with views across the Tudor knot garden, Church of St Mary the Virgin, pasture and lakes.
